Britt Clausson MD PhD, Consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologist

colposcopy

Colposcopy is the assessment of the cervix (the neck of the womb) following an abnormal smear test. Your GP will usually discuss the test result with you and recommend referral. For women who do not have a GP Miss Clausson can offer smear check ups including HPV testing, and discuss HPV vaccination.

Colposcopy is usually not painful, and takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes. A speculum is gently inserted into the vagina and the neck of the womb is inspected using liquids that help show up any abnormality.

Miss Clausson has a vast experience in Colposcopy, and is a member of the BSCCP, which accredits licensed colposcopists, and annually sees and treats many women with abnormal smears. In addition to assessing your problem she will also set aside time to discuss with you the findings and what they mean for you.
